With a majority of the coating applications in industrial, commercial, marine and transportation facilities reaching the limits of their life-span, it is critical to conduct surveys to evaluate the current coating conditions and develop programs to properly maintain this infrastructure. It is equally important to have coating specialists assigned to these coatings surveys who know what to look for and who can ultimately provide the best solutions to your coating problems.
S.G. Pinney & Associates (SGP) has been providing these services for well over 20 years. We have specialists on staff who have conducted hundreds of coating surveys and who have recommended solutions that have substantially increased the efficiency of maintenance painting programs for our clients. To achieve a more efficient approach to these programs, SGP developed computerized tools to help in the design, development, and operation of these systems. Our programs allow the owner to prioritize, budget, plan and implement their programs. Whether our clients need us to conduct the actual surveys and maintain their database, or provide the computer tools and train their in-house staff, we offer a variety of flexible solutions to meet any need.
S.G. Pinney's computer program, "Painting Activities Planner" (PAP), allows the user to prioritize their plant/facility/structure. It is best suited for organizing and generating an inventory of their assets along with their condition. The later decisions of developing a specific "scope-of-work" are left to the user. Extensive flexibility is provided in the program to track conditions, procedures, and/or operations other than those concerning protective coatings
The windows based program is easy to learn and operate. The program
divides a facility into logical segments that can be viewed graphically for
easy reference. The most unique feature of the PAP program is the way in which
all of the data is organized. In typical programs, searching for the desired
data and understanding its relationship to the surrounding assets is difficult
at best. PAP provides an organizational tree structure, shown below, that
visually illustrates each asset's relationship to those surrounding it.
The PAP program is intended as the first step in the design and development of
a proactive maintenance-painting program. We are currently adding features that
will provide project management capabilities, such as:
| · Scope-of-Work Preparation · Engineer's Estimate · Contractor's Performance · Project Surveillance |
